Re: Nominations for Chancellor's Staff Advisory Council

The Chancellor's Staff Advisory Council is soliciting nominations for membership effective September, 2008. The Council consists of 21 nominated career staff employees, one Staff Assembly member, and one representative from the Chancellor's Office. The CSAC Nominations Committee will forward its recommendations to the Chancellor for final endorsement.

CSAC PURPOSE
The purpose of the Council is to actively research and identify UCSB staff issues and report these issues directly to the Chancellor. The council also provides advisory services to the Chancellor and other senior administrators on campus policies, procedures, and long-range plans pertinent to staff.

CSAC MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Members serve three-year terms. Council meetings are held monthly. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings in order to maintain membership. Members are also expected to participate actively on CSAC subcommittees and all CSAC sponsored events, including the Chancellor's Staff Celebration BBQ. CSAC membership requires a time commitment of approximately three to five hours per month; members must secure approval to be released from their respective departments. The Council seeks inclusive representation of the entire campus staff population across all departments, classifications, ethnicities, and genders.

CSAC NOMINATIONS PROCEDURES
The nomination form can be found here. The form may be used for both self-nominations and nominations submitted by an individual or group. In either case, the nominee and the nominee's supervisor must sign the form indicating approval of the nomination.

Please return nomination forms by August 8, 2008 to:
